Alone and Unsupported: The British Columbia Dragoons Seize the Centre of the German Gothic Line

Eighty years ago, on August 31, 1944, the British Columbia Dragoons executed a daring tank charge, capturing Point 204, the heart of the formidable German Gothic Line in Italy. This pivotal victory, part of a larger three-day offensive by the 1st Canadian Corps, shattered a defensive line expected to hold for six months. Although the Dragoons suffered their heaviest casualties, the battle marked their most significant triumph of World War II.

Join us at the Okanagan Military Museum on Saturday, August 31 at 2pm for a presentation from Prof. Howard Hisdal of Okanagan College and former tank troop leader and BC Dragoons Captain on this historical event. Light refreshments will be served.
